Who is PJ?

PJ Rohr is a flutist and harpist…

She performs solo and chamber concerts,

plays in orchestras,

played for hundreds of weddings and lots of other kinds of events,

recorded CDs,

and teaches beginners, advanced, college, and adult students the love of flute and music.

She’s been teaching privately for almost four decades, and was Adjunct Professor of Flute at Clearwater Christian College, a masterclass teacher for the Florida Flute Association, and ran her own Summer Flute Academy.

As a performer, she plays in numerous chamber concerts in various collaborations with strings, harp, guitar, piano, and fortepiano.

She has appeared with orchestras including The Florida Orchestra, Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, Boulder Philharmonic, Salem Philharmonia, Riverside Chamber Symphony, Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, Tampa Bay Symphony, Florida Boychoir Chamber Orchestra, Tampa Chamber Symphony, Florida Lyric Opera Orchestra, and Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, and participated in the world premiere of Anton Coppola’s opera Sacco and Vanzetti (as part of the on-stage banda) with the composer conducting. Also, while an on-air announcer and music director at WXCR classical radio, she founded and managed the WXCR Chamber Music Society, coordinating concerts and as a performer.

PJ is a past winner of both the Music Teacher’s National Association Collegiate-Artist Competition and the National Flute Association Convention Performer’s Competition, a grant recipient from the Pinellas County (FL) Arts Council, has premiered works written for her, and was selected for the Encore Series Concerts by the Palladium Theatre in St. Petersburg, FL.

She has recorded several CDs: About Foreign Lands and People, for flute and harp, Chaminade Productions, Dreams, Diversions and Digressions: music of the 20th century for flute & cello, Chaminade Productions, The Mikado, Gilbert and Sullivan, C&B Productions, and appeared as a guest on several others.

PJ has had several recent performances locally at the Atrium in Eugene, including her solo program Fastest Fingers in the West, as a harpist in the duo Harpe Diem, and as a soloist with the Riverside Chamber Symphony.

Outside of music, she also is a Project Manager and Technical Support Engineer.
